Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 1, 2025
Sensed is built around the idea that your inner experiences deserve a witnessing space — not a data warehouse. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and how you stay in control. We've written it in plain language. If something is unclear, reach out and we'll explain it directly.
1. Who We Are
Sensed is operated by Sensed, Skrænten 7, 5270 Odense N, Denmark (CVR: DK 37093378), a Danish company ("Sensed," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy applies to the Sensed web application, mobile applications, and any related services (collectively, the "Service").
For privacy-related questions, contact us at: privacy@sensed.app
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Account information: Email address, display name, and password when you create an account.
- Experience data (Signals): Text, audio, or other content you log as a Signal — including synchronicities, dreams, intuitive experiences, and felt presences.
- Profile information: Optional details you choose to add, such as a bio or profile image.
- Feedback and communications: Any messages you send to us directly, including support requests.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, timestamps, and interaction events.
- Device information: Browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and IP address.
- Location data: Coarse geographic location derived from IP address. We do not collect precise GPS location without your explicit consent.
- Cookies and similar technologies: Session cookies for authentication and preference cookies. See Section 7 for details.
2.3 Information from third parties
- If you sign in via Google, Apple, or another OAuth provider, we receive a unique identifier and your email address from that provider.
2a. AI Processing of Your Experiences
When you share an experience with Sensed, our AI structures your narrative into four components:
- Observed: The objective event or situation you described — what actually happened.
- Felt: The emotional or physical sensations you reported experiencing.
- Interpretation: The meaning or significance you attributed to the experience in your own words.
- Confidence: A measure of how certain you expressed feeling about the experience.
This structured data is generated from your own words — the AI organises what you said, it does not infer emotions or states beyond what you explicitly shared.
This structured representation (OFIC) is used to:
- Position your experience on the Inner Map
- Find similar experiences
- Generate pattern insights (premium)
Legal basis: We process this data based on your explicit consent, provided when you submit an experience.
Retention: OFIC data is retained as long as your account is active. Deleted signals have their OFIC data permanently removed within 30 days.
Your rights: You can request a copy of your OFIC data via the data export feature, or request deletion per GDPR Articles 15–17.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Authenticate your identity and keep your account secure
- Process and display your Signals on the Inner Map
- Generate aggregated, anonymised patterns (e.g. "N people sensed something similar") — your individual entries are never exposed without your consent
- Send transactional emails (account verification, password reset)
- Send product updates and newsletters, only if you opted in
- Respond to your questions and support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your experience data to train third-party AI models without your explicit, opt-in consent.
4. How We Share Your Information
We share your information only in the circumstances described below:
- Service providers: Trusted vendors who help us operate the Service (hosting, email delivery, analytics, error tracking). They are bound by data processing agreements and may only use your data to perform services for us.
- Aggregated insights: We may share anonymised, aggregated data (never individual entries) with researchers or in public reports.
- Legal requirements: When required by law, regulation, or valid legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of Sensed, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
- With your consent: In any other circumstance where you have explicitly agreed.
5. Your Experience Data
Signals you log are private by default. You control whether a Signal is:
- Private: Visible only to you.
- Anonymous-aggregate: Contributes to collective patterns (e.g. category clustering) but is never individually identifiable.
- Shared: Visible to other Sensed users, with attribution as you choose.
You can change the visibility of any Signal at any time. Deleting a Signal removes it from all views. Deleted Signals are purged from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account information and Signals for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 90 days, except:
- Anonymised, aggregated data that cannot be linked back to you
- Data we are required to retain by law or legitimate legal proceedings
- Backups, which are purged on a rolling 30-day schedule
7. Cookies
We use the following cookies:
- Essential cookies: Required for authentication and security. Cannot be disabled.
- Preference cookies: Remember your settings (e.g. theme). Can be cleared via your browser.
- Analytics cookies: Help us understand how the Service is used. You can opt out via the cookie banner or your browser settings.
We do not use advertising cookies or sell cookie data to third parties.
8. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at security@sensed.app.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection / Restriction: Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
- Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any right, email privacy@sensed.app with "Privacy Request" in the subject line. We will respond within 30 days.
10. Children's Privacy
Sensed is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.
11. International Transfers
Your data may be processed in countries outside your own. Where we transfer personal data from the European Economic Area, we use approved mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses to ensure an adequate level of protection.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
